How To Mindfully Set Up Your Home Meditation Space

Meditation can be done anywhere, but it’s great to have a space in your home to zen out. Creating a meditation corner in your home is valuable because it’s a space to ground and find your center. Ever since I created my own mindfulness space - I meditate, journal, practice yoga, and read my oracle cards all in that space and it sets me up for a great day.

Below are quick tips to help you get started.

  1. Find a space in your home that’s cozy and has enough space so sit or lay down. I choose a space in my bedroom that is enough space to sit on a meditation cushion with a blanket and a small cozy rug.

  2. Decide what you want to sit or lay on. I prefer sitting on the ground to have a more rooted feeling during my practice, but there are also meditation stools and it is perfectly appropriate to lay down on.

  3. Bring your space to life! This can be setting up some crystals, incense, sage or palo santo, and you can set up an aromatherapy diffuser. I have an aromatherapy machine in my room and I plan to use my “happy” essential oils while I’m meditating as well as use palo santo to set up my space with positive energy, and I will set my crystals by my meditation space. The crystals I like to use for meditation are rose quartz to align with my heart chakra, self-compassion and forgiveness, and my clear quartz for manifestation. I also bought some oracle cards to use for setting my daily intentions. There are many ways to mindfully set up your meditation space and it will grow along with you!
