4 Things To Know About Reiki
There is so much to learn about Reiki and my eyes were opened even more during my training. I’m excited to continue to learn and to share my journey with you!
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a healing modality that can help people heal physical and emotional pain - it can be used for anything from stress and anxiety to headaches. Reiki was originally founded in Japan by Mikao Usui and was brought to the west in the 1940’s by a woman named Hawayo Takata.
The 5 principles of Reiki are:
Just for today I will not be angry. Anger towards yourself or others can create blockages in your energy. Reiki is a great tool to help you remove anger blockages that accumulate in the body.
Just for today I will not worry. We tend to stress about the past, present and future. This stress can have a major impact on our physical and emotional health. Reiki can help you relieve stress, anxiety and depression.
Just for today I will be grateful. Gratitude also brings joy to you when you practice gratitude and to others when you extend it.
Just for today I will work hard and honestly. Being authentic brings abundance into your life.
Just for today I will be kind to all living things.
2. How does it work?
Practitioners channel energy into the client by touch or by hovering their hands over the client. Reiki activates the natural healing processes of the patient's body to restore their physical and emotional health. Reiki practitioners use their intuition to guide them towards the areas in your body where you may have a block. Everyone has a bio-electromagnetic energy field that surrounds them, practitioners read this energy field and where you may have imbalances. Sensing these imbalances allows you to open a conversation about what’s going on in your life and how you can work together to heal it. You may feel heat, pressure, or a tingling wherever the Reiki practitioner is sending energy or where you may need healing.
3. We are all energy
We all have electricity running through us that emits off of us. This energy we commonly refer to as a “vibe” or “aura”. When you get a vibe” about someone as they pass you or enter a room - you’re sensing their electrical current. The more in tune with yourself you are - the better you can tune in to other people’s energies. Reiki is a way that a practitioner can sense your energy - I like to use the chakras to sense energy. I notice where in your body where there could be a blocked chakra that needs extra TLC. Then we can talk about where it’s coming from and how to heal.
4. You can do Reiki on yourself
As a Reiki Practitioner - you can do Reiki on yourself. It’s important to do a cleanse where you practice on yourself for 21 days after you are certified. This way you become more in tune with the practice and are able to read others better. I practice on myself almost every day still and it’s made a huge difference in my mindfulness practice - I feel more connected to myself, more authentic, and more aware of other people’s energy.
Reiki is an amazing healing practice that can be very relaxing and cathartic. If you would like to learn more about Reiki or schedule a session with me, I’d love to connect!
