Start Your Day Joyfully With A Productive Mood Anchor

Generally, most of my days start the same. I have a set routine that works great for me, but sometimes I wake up with a burst of anxiety that I carry with me and it tends to be heavy. I discovered a practice called Productive Mood Anchor and now I’m using it daily, especially when I’m extra stressed to set a more positive tone for my day.

The energy we start our day with lasts throughout the day and can dictate how productive or calm we feel. A Productive Mood Anchor is a practice of joy that sets the tone for the rest of your day. It can be done in 5 min or as long as 30 min of reflection, depending on your schedule find what works best for you.

Benefits of Productive Mood Anchor

This practice gives us the space to reflect on what we’re grateful for and ground us in joy. Especially when we’re experiencing more stress and uncertainty, we can improve our overall mental health by doing daily Mindfulness practices.

Decreased Stress Throughout The Day

When you’re met with a stressful thought or situation - practice returning to your anchor. Pause, take a deep breath and ease yourself back into joy and grounding, then carry on.

A Sense Of Calm In The Morning

Sometimes we wake up feeling stressed. When we practice our Positive Mood Anchor, we shift our mindset from a fight or flight response to a resilience response.

Increased Present Awareness

The more we practice Mindfulness techniques, the more habitual staying present becomes. During the Positive Mood Anchor, we are practicing grounding ourselves in joy and we are better able to shift our mindset when stressful situations arise. We will still experience stress, but we can meet it more Mindfully.

Better Quality Of Sleep

When we mindfully manage our stress and build resilience - we’re able to fall asleep faster and stay asleep throughout the night, feeling well rested.

Let’s Give It A Try…

Begin by finding a comfortable position either laying down, sitting or standing up. Take a big inhale in through the nose and exhale out the mouth. From here imagine something that brings you joy. What do you see, smell, hear? How does it feel in your body? Resting in this space, soak it all in and allow the energy to fill you up. When you’re ready, guide yourself back to but hold that joyful energy with you and bring it with you for the rest of the day.
